At First Glance

A lightly-armored Hyuran man with a sword on the hilt. He has a mark on the neck, that of a Sharlayan Archon.

At First Introductions

Aurelius Lyon. A Sharlayan Archon whose expertise is (Monster) Ecology, but an adventurer and hunter by trade. He doesn't care much for the status of an Archon, but his dedication to his expertise is genuine. He is quite a laid-back man but a bit of a rebel and kind of reckless.

Attire

He wears clothing originating from Dalmasca rather than what you'd expect from a Sharlayan. The one he loves to wear is lightly-armored, preferrable for a more agile fighter. It has gone through some wear and tear from the harshness of being out in the wild, giving an almost raggedy look to him.

Physical Traits

Brown skin, amber eyes, a scruffy face and dark brown hair. He never bothers to style his hair much, thus looking like a mess. His physique is rather lean but still muscular, maintained by his diet of mainly eating meats and his active lifestyle of being an adventurer.

Demeanor

Demeanor: He's always been teased for having an imposing resting face, then becomes annoyed at said remarks. Regardless, he tends to be an expressive individual with a talent for eccentric expressions. He isn't afraid to speak his mind, even if it's through his demeanor.

Weapon

His weapon of choice is a sword. There's nothing too special about it but he takes great care of it anyway. Weapon maintenance is important as an adventurer after all.

Swordplay

His father at first taught him sorcery but due to his ineptitude at magic as a child, his other father suggested he trains with a sword which he quickly grasped in learning. Ever since, a sword has become his favored weapon in fighting.

Hunting And Survival Skills

Being an Archon of Ecology, he knows how to handle the wilderness and its threats. He also knows what flora and fauna are safe to eat, how to look for them and how to effectively hunt for them.

Cooking

Being an avid hater of Sharlayan cuisine, he taught himself how to cook based on different cultures but most of all, Dalmascan cuisine. Cooking also proves useful when he is far from home, staying out in the wild.

Harnessing Light

Having a natural affinity towards the light element, the most he prefers to cast are only light-aspected spells. He would also imbue his sword into being light-aspected which proves useful to the undead, a type of creature he absolutely loathes. It's also useful for lighting the way within the dark.

Curative Magic

Having been raised within the Waverly family, it was expected for him to know curative magicks. He knows the absolute basics and can cast simple curative spells that can close off smaller wounds and heal bruises. Very useful whenever he needs it.

Sharlayan Family

Estranged from his birth parents as a mere child, Aurelius grew up with two, eventually three loving fathers. However the rest of the family was x towards him due to not having 'the Waverly blood', especially his own uncle. Despite the love poured onto him by his fathers, he's always felt detached to his new extended family which bothered him and as a child, he tried his hardest to impress them. After gained his Archon mark which is only given to the most influential of Sharlayan scholars, he then realized it was a futile attempt as they seethed at his achievements rather than celebrate it but either way, he had a last laugh in the end.

Dalmascan Origins

Before becoming Sharlayan, he was Dalmascan. He can't remember his birth parents much, but he learned about them from his two fathers. They were good friends with them and trusted them enough to leave him in their care so they can fight for their homeland during the invasion. His lineage was religious to the Dalmascan gods and had a high affinity to the light element, so he naturally had the ability to harness light as well. Aurelius always wondered why his last name was 'Lyon' and not 'Waverly' like his adopted father, which he only wanted to respect the name that was left for Aurelius by his biological parents. Either way, Aurelius is happier with it than being called a Waverly, no offense to his father of course.

Life at the Studium

He had a troubled school life. He always felt uncomfortable within the confines of the Studium and had trouble making friends so he would often skip class to sneak out of the city, go out and learn about the flora, fauna and creatures of the wild. His fathers would often scold him for skipping his lectures and running off on his own but still encouraged his interests and instead would often supervise him, Darius especially as Viktor and Osmund were instructors and have to lead an example. Due to skipping lectures however, his peers thought he was weird and would avoid him. Regardless, he always made sure his grades were good.

Archon of Ecology

He became an Archon of (Monster) Ecology and claims it happened through sheer happenstance. He wrote a thesis on Dalmascan flora and fauna and a hands-on review on how it was affected after the Dalmascan invasion but one particular excerpt is what granted him the Archon mark somehow. During his journeys around the Dalmasca sands, he spotted what was called a Flowering Cactoid. Cactoids themselves have become a rare sight compared to the typical Cactuars after Dalmasca's invasion, but one with a flower even more so. Only those with miraculous good fortune would be able to see them. He learned plenty from his observations, many needles tolerated later.

Monster Hunter

As an avid lover of Ecology, he likes to preserve its balance. This also means he has to hunt down unruly creatures that would otherwise pervert this balance. He would also often take on the bounties that Grand Companies issue and hunt said threats, though they weren't exactly issued with his goals in mind. He hopes one day to create a free company that prioritizes on preserving, if it means hunting creatures, and researching ecology for the benefit of all.
